Vehicle fitment
Keld lets a shopper save their vehicle once. The store then shows, everywhere, whether each part is listed for that vehicle.
Fitment in Keld comes from your own data: a vehicle list in theme settings and a fitment list on each product. Keld compares the two in the shopper's browser. It doesn't connect to a vehicle database and never claims a verified compatibility lookup. Shoppers see the note "From the merchant's fitment list, not a verified lookup."
How it works for shoppers
- The shopper clicks Set my vehicle in the header (or uses the vehicle form in the slideshow) and picks Make, Model and Year.
- Keld saves the vehicle in their browser, so it stays set on later visits on the same browser and device.
- Across the store they then see:
- Product cards: a "Listed for your vehicle" or "Not listed for your vehicle" badge.
- Product page: the Vehicle fitment panel, with "Listed for your 2019 Halvo Ridge RS" or "Not listed for your …".
- Collection and search pages: a Fits my vehicle box that hides parts on the current page that aren't listed for the vehicle.
- Cart: a "Not listed for your vehicle" warning on lines that aren't listed (when Show fitment warning is on).
- The shopper can change or remove the vehicle at any time from the same button.
Step 1: Enter your vehicle list
Go to Theme settings › Fitment › Vehicle list. Enter one vehicle per line in this format:
Make|Model|YearFrom|YearTo
For example:
Halvo|Ridge RS|2015|2025
Marlow|Fenn ST|2013|2018
Norrick|240 Touring|2017|2025
- The vehicle selector builds its Make, Model and Year menus from this list.
- YearFrom and YearTo are both included.
2015|2025offers every year from 2015 to 2025. - Replace the demo list with your own vehicles before you launch.
Step 2: List each product's vehicles
Each product's fitment lives in the product metafield custom.fitment. Create the metafield definition first (see Metafields), then fill it in on each product.
Use the same format, one vehicle per entry:
Halvo|Ridge RS|2017|2025
Arden|Vale R|2017|2025
How matching works:
- Make and Model must match the vehicle list exactly, but uppercase and lowercase don't matter.
- The shopper's year must fall within YearFrom to YearTo, both included.
- A product without fitment data shows Fitment not set on its product page, and is hidden when a shopper uses Fits my vehicle.
Tip for parts that fit everything (gift cards, cleaning products, tools), leave fitment empty. On gift cards the fitment panel is hidden automatically.
Step 3: Check the settings that use fitment
| Where | Setting |
|---|---|
| Header | Show vehicle button shows the "Set my vehicle" button and the vehicle badge. |
| Slideshow | The Vehicle selector block adds a make, model and year form to the slideshow. |
| Product page | The Vehicle fitment block shows the panel. A Collapsible panel with Content set to Listed platforms lists every vehicle. |
| Collection and search | The Fits my vehicle box is always in the filter sidebar. |
| Cart drawer and cart page | Show fitment warning. |
| Theme settings › Colors | Fitment: listed and Fitment: not listed set the badge colors. |
The Vehicle selector section must stay in the Overlays group: it's the dialog that the header button opens.
Step 4: Turn off the demo labels
While Theme settings › Fitment › Show "Demo fitment" label is on, Keld marks fitment, prices and some image lists with dashed Demo tags. Turn it off once your vehicle list and product fitment are your real data.
Limits to know
- "Fits my vehicle" works on the current page of results. It hides non-listed parts on the page the shopper is viewing and shows how many of them are listed, for example "6 of 12 parts on this page listed for your vehicle". For a large catalog, combine it with Search & Discovery filters.
- The vehicle is saved per browser. It isn't stored on the customer account, so a shopper who switches devices sets it again.
- The vehicle list is a theme setting. Very large lists (thousands of vehicles) are slow to edit there.
